I enjoyed your tour of the windows of Prague‘s beautiful St. Vitus Cathedral. I did want to point out one error that you mentioned twice in the article. St. John of Nepomuk was martyred by Wenceslaus the 4th not by Saint Wenceslaus. St Wenceslaus was in the 10th century. Wenceslaus The 4th who had St. John Nepomuk murdered was in the 14th century. He had him murdered because he would not break the seal of the confessional and divulge to him his wife’s confession.

Pretzels were actually first invented by a monk. He baked this treat as a reward for his young students for learning their prayers. The baked dough was twisted to resembled the shape of a child crossing their arms in prayer and the word for pretzel was "bracellae," which is Latin for "little arms". Later pretzels were given to children as a reminder to pray. So in this image that could be the significance, this apostles is reminding the viewer to pray using the pretzel as that symbolism.

Our grandson is in Prague as I type and he just sent photos of beautiful St Vitus Cathedral and of the stained glass in the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre. Grateful thanks for providing this insightful narrative and these photos so that I could experience what he's seeing from North Carolina
