About Me

Hello, my name is Laura Whelan aka the Creative Adventurer. I’m an avid traveller with a lust for beautiful art, delicious food, fascinating history and all things new and exciting! I thrive on finding not just the best-hidden gems but also places that speak for the country I’m travelling in and tell a unique story. I work as a graphic designer and photographer and love using my artistic skills to create this wonderful community here on ‘The Creative Adventurer‘!

Despite loving the city I live in (Toronto), my wanderlust drives me to keep exploring this big world of ours to discover unknown treasures and new experiences. I started ‘The Creative Adventurer’ in 2010. Back then, it was just something I wrote for myself, to document my travels to preserve those memories in amber forever. But as the site grew and grew, I wanted to help other travellers have more meaningful experiences. Understanding the history and cultural context behind the places you visit on your travels is essential to get more out of the experience. I hope this blog encourages you in this understanding and inspires your next adventures.
