Unfortunately, I checked and it has since closed down! But there are lots of other great bakeries in Mala Strana. A few other options are artic Bakehouse or Antoninovo pekarstvi.

The chimney cake is Hungarian and not Slovakian- although it does not come from the territory of nowadays Hungary but from Transylvania- currently part of Romania and not Slovakia(!) – made by the Hungarian minority there. Until the end of the I.st W.W. both Transylvania and Slovakia were part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy (as being part of the Hungarian Kingdom). So it is a Hungarian dessert from Romania/ Transylvania.

Also, 30 years ago, there was no such thing as a trdelník in Prague and nobody even knew what it was. It is completely fake and not at all Czech so don’t buy it.

I appreciate busting the myth about "trdelnik". It’s something that’s been imported here some twenty years ago from Hungary, and tourists have been tricked to believe trdelnik has been our tradition for centuries. I’ve seen it offered for the price of 3 Euros or even more, which is seriously overpriced. In non-tourist bakeries, the average price of pastry of this size is around 1 Euro or even less. I’m not trying to discourage anyone from trying trdelnik (it’s really delicious), just know what you pay for and that you’re not sampling the real Czech food.

Also, segways have been banned from the city center after some accidents and many complaints from the citizens. If anyone offers you a ride, don’t do it. You’d be risking a fine that is currently 2 000 Czech crowns (somewhere around 75 Euros).
